The Next Web: ASP.NET MVC 3 and WebMatrix Up-Close and Personal
Are you still using ASP.NET Web Forms, but remain curious about MVC? Did you upgrade to MVC 2, only to find that Microsoft started talking about version 3 a day later? Are you wondering what the heck WebMatrix is, and what it means to you as a professional developer? Seems like there's plenty of noise from Microsoft when it comes to the web, doesn't it? In this session, Brandon will try to make sense out of the recent developments in Microsoft's web. He'll start by exploring some of the new features coming in ASP.NET MVC 3, and will show how the changes coming to the framework are unobtrusive to your existing apps, while adding a level of power we've been missing in the framework until now. After a flyover of the new MVC features, Brandon will step back and discuss the nature of modern web development, both from the perspective of the professional web application developer, and that of other, newer audiences. We'll discuss what Microsoft hopes to achieve with the new WebMatrix tool (and its component pieces) and what that means for you as a professional developer.
Brandon is a Developer Evangelist with Microsoft based in Austin, Texas. He has eleven years of industry experience, splitting his time evenly between consulting/service organizations and internal IT shops. A Software and Enterprise Architect, Brandon has worked on projects of all shapes for companies large and small, most recently using technologies such as WCF, WF, ASP.NET MVC with a healthy dose of OSS. Brandon is active in the Austin technology community, both as a participant in local user groups and as President of the IASA Austin chapter.
